Lochte charms and intrigues us with older and younger amusing perspectives in solving a mystery.
I really enjoyed reading Richard Lochte's first novel. He was my "Big Brother" in our fraternity. He passed on the editorship of Tulane's humor magazine, the Urchin to me. He introduced me to the great mystery writers (Chandler, Ross Macdonald, Hammett, etc).
By using the device of "older cantankerous ex-cop and feisty teen girl", he opens up possibilities for the plot and reader to explore more than solving a case.
I'm looking forward to reading his fictionalized mystery novel of his time working at Playboy: "Croaked".
