Awesome Jinx
So this figure is over all really great but she had some ups and downs for me. Over all she has grown on me quite a bit though. Read on to hear the pros and cons.
Right off the bat, she is an exclusive, so pricepoint, especially after-market like here, is expensive. I find it a shame that these fun, little, 4" toys can break you right in half at the bank if you want to actually get some of the cooler ones.
That said, this is the way with almost all the exclusives, so if you are ok with that, keep reading.
Her body is a reuse of the jinx from Retaliating, but the costume is muuuuch cooler, and, she's unmasked! which is a biiib bonus for a jinx figure. Her weapons are unique and nice. Also, there is a dragon design that is just bearly visible in her costume which is a very nice touch of detail.
Her head sculpt is unique and she's attractive and serious. The only downside I have is that it seems that they couldn't deside what they wanted to do with her exactly. On the back of her package, we are shown a vintage comic still of Jinx in white with long hair. I always thought her original version was short haired and in red, but it turns out she's been in the comics for a long time before that. The downside is that he face does not look anything like the young Asian girl we see there. So what might have been there model? Well to me it seems like they tried to use the likenes of Elodie Young from Retaliation. I personally did not care for her as a pick for jinx but beyond that, A movie inspired costume then may have suited her better. As it stands, her costume is inspired by her original incarnation. Had they followed through with that, she would have been soooo much cooler.
All and all, those gripes are minor. I love her, she rocks. On more issue to be aware of though and that is he foot peg-hols are very shallow so it can take work to get her to stay up.
Really? a great figure. the best currently out there of her though. very worth it if you are looking to spend the money.

Quick kick is a great figure for these old Joes.
So, the strange thing is, it asked me to write a review of these products I purchases....but I never purchased these particular figures HAHA. You are in luck though because I do purchase vintage G.I. Joe figures and this is one I owned as a kid. So I can still review it!
So G.I. Joes in general set the bar for action figures. The vintage ones are great. they actually have a lot of charm. I collect the new ones too but for some reason, the vintage line has something that seems to have been lost in the newer/cooler figures.
with any old joe there are some things to consider. first off, the figures have an o-ring rubber band that holds them together and a small screw in their back. The o-ring will degrade over time, no matter HOW careful you are with the figure. The good news? you can buy new o-rings for like a dime a pack at any hardware store. Also, the hands are a point of weakness. You have to be careful with the way you put weapons in their hands as the plastic on these old figures is rigid and has no give like newer figures. This can result in the thumbs breaking off. It's not a serious risk as long as you are not forcing weapons in their hands that are too big, but it is a common problem we see with a lot of these figures.
That's the only down side. The upside is, these figures are great fun to pose and set up. There are soooo many characters that you are bound to find some that you can like and gravitate towards. If you are buying for an older kid, one that knows how to take care of their toys and likes figures, these are great to play with. If you are buying as a collector, these are nicely designed, iconic figures and showcase very well. I personally collect just for fun and enjoy setting them up in dioramas from time to time. It brings back all sorts of nostalgia and it's a lot of fun!
Now onto this particular figure.
Quick Kick came out in 1985. It was the first year that the G.I. Joe figures were made with ball jointed necks instead of the ones that only allowed side to side turning. This completed the "fully pose-able" slogan that Hasbro was aiming for. Quick Kick was a cool, Asian American character that has his roots in famous martial artists like Bruce Lee. I personally love his simple, martial arts inspired design. He also has a very cool and unique look. He stands out but not so much that he is a distraction when in the group.
If there is a downside, it might be this. G.I.Joe was moving away from the conventional soldier and experimenting with a lot of new age characters, getting further and further out into fantastic territory as it progressed over the years. This figure may well be a good benchmark of where that started to take place. In my personal opinion, the reason I like G.I. Joe is because it's so far out. there's a little something for everyone in it. If, however, you are a purist and you want your soldier figures to be soldier looking, then this figure might not be for you. On the flip side, if you are like me and you enjoy fantastic, imaginative and even campy ideas, then this is a good figure because, in a military squadron, why the heck not have a seasoned martial arts veteran or a ninja type character! Is it real? no. But that's what makes it fun!
Quick kick, even though I haven't actually purchased him, is on my list to get again. He always was kind of one of my favorite Joes.

Come on, hasbro.
There are positives to this figure and there are negatives. Sadly, the negatives far outweigh the positives. So here goes.
This figure is, at first glance, a nearly identical copy of a previous figure. The positives of this being that her previous release was in a five pack and that was a bit expensive. This was a version of that figure released at a more reasonable price and a bit more accessible for kids and collectors alike.
Sadly, the positives stop there. A lot of people may sight the weapons and gear she comes with as a positive, but unless you are a stickler for figures having all their original weaponry, then you can put any weapon in her hand that looks good and you're ready to go, so I don't count that.
The negatives are almost too numerous to count. First off, she is cheap. Her plastic is cheap and light compared with the other version of this figure. Speaking of the plastic, the five-pack version had hair that utilized a different, non-glossy plastic to add a bit of difference between the black of her outfit and the black of her hair. This one uses the same cheap, non-durable, overly shiny plastic as the body. A nit-pick? maybe. But it gets worse.
Paint: So the very first thing you will see is how horrible her face paint is. It's this overly thick, pastry, inhuman looking coat for skin tone and instead of contouring her lips, they just put a sloppy red dot on the lip's center more or less and called it a day. It looks like Queen Amadala lips or something weird like it. lastly, the glasses are overly thick so it looks very "racoon eye'd". Since I have both, holding the 5 pack one up to her, the 5 pack has great face color, thin glasses frames that look like glasses, and a really nicely painted mouth even sporting a bit of a villainous smirk.
This figure was a huge step down in quality. However, all that aside, is this figure a complete flop? Amazingly? no. Me personally? I bought three of these because I sort of have a side hobby of customizing. They are being sold at a cheap price point and with a little work, I managed to make a few really cool figures, one of them a far better baroness to boot.
If you aren't a customizer, then these figures offer a few other reasons to buy. If you don't have a baroness and want one but can't find one at an inexpensive price, she does do the trick well enough. For kids, her price point again makes her easy to get, but then, she's not really durable enough for rough play so be careful. For collectors, If you are after a really pretty cool Lady Jaye, find a complete Social Clash pack because the Lady Jaye in there is very cool in my opinion. The Baroness, think of her as a kitchy sort of extra to add to the pot for that Lady Jay.
