Etrex Vista CX - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED GPS UNIT!
11 of 11 found this helpful The color screen is a great feature and you can see it in the sun or in the dark with thebacklight with adjustable brightness levels. Regular alkaline batteries last a long time in this unit even when its constantly turned on with backlight on. I like the portability of the unit - I use it biking, hiking, and geocaching mostly. The screen is a bit small for mounting to your dashboard for road navigation but it is still excellent to have on the road because you can always pull over, get your bearing, and then continue driving. The provided basemaps are VERY basic. Get yourself the City Navigator with this unit and you're in business. Topo maps are good to have too. I bought a 1 GB microSD card for $3 after rebate to go along with my Garmin and it holds street maps for the entire USA as well as topo maps for 1/2 of the USA. The only thing I would complain about is when there's trees overhead the accuracy goes way down and bearing readings go crazy.
