Great Dutch oven for bread baking!
1 of 1 found this helpful I love the size and color. Beware though that you can't put the lid in a 500 degree oven. I ended buying a metal knob for the lid to replace the one it came with so that I can preheat with the lid on too. But otherwise it's perfect.

Wood splits too easily
Happy to get this product in a timely manner and try it out on my bread. I have a top rated very sharp bread knife so I was ready to go. I inserted my sourdough loaf into the bread slicing guide and started to slice. But the knife wasn't going through smoothly. When I stopped I saw that the knife was stripping thin bits of wood from the sides of the slats. The bamboo was not a good solid quality and it sliced away pieces of the bamboo. I had to pry those pieces off and essentially tear them off. I've had other bamboo products, like cutting boards that have never chipped. They're very solid. This bamboo is very soft. I realize now that I'll only be able to use this device on very soft bread that doesn't require any vigorous slicing. Sourdough crust is crispy and this device won't work.

Helpful oven thermometer
I'm very pleased with my oven thermometer. I especially like the large face so I could read it easily. It was important for me to make sure my oven was working correctly and the oven thermometer helped.
