I own one and soon two…
Not sure what the problem is? I found it to be durable, easy to install, so easy a cave man could do it! And it has versatility in the design - reflector that can be adjusted or made into a softbox. I found one on ebay for a deal, NO complaints- think i will order both sizes….

My experience
Good idea but even my small 28mm ball head tension knob hit on the leg screws when revolving the ball head 90- this is caused by the 3/8 mount being off center on the platy
