Nice cool running clippers
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a very solid feeling set of pro-grade clippers. They stay cooler when running than two previous inexpensive ones I have owned from Wahl and Conair. I cut my own hair with them, so I have to be careful and slow, which means they are running continuously for longer than if used by a professional barber, who is much quicker working on someone else, and usually has multiple specialty clippers to rotate through. While the polished solid aluminum body does eventually get warm, it is never uncomfortably hot, and amazingly, the blade does not get very hot either. My previous inexpensive Conair ones got too hot to touch the skin after only a few minutes of use, and I would have to stop and cool them off to continue without guard combs to keep them from touching skin. These are a little heavy, reflecting the very solid build and feel, but no more than most other pro plug-in clippers. They came properly close gapped (not zero gapped) and tuned to run properly; no adjustments were required. The plenty long 8' cord is very flexible, smooth, and does not kink or bind on things. Noise level is typical for electromagnet clippers, maybe a little quieter than most. They cut very clean, and I have experienced no jamming, pulling, or balking on my hair. The included guard combs are adequate, but nothing special, just all-plastic snap ons, but they have not fallen off and cover the usual range in conjunction with the adjustment lever on the clipper, ranging from nearly bald to about an inch left; longer than that and you will need to do clipper-over-comb technique. The only shortcoming is that no left-right side taper guards are included in the set, if you like to use those. I will probably add some Andis purple magnetic combs to my collection in the near future, as I intend to keep these clippers for the rest of my life. Good quality, worth more than the great price I paid for them on eBay.
