New Coaches 101
Excellent for new coaches or for those that have been away from the coaching scene for several years - like myself. Provides a great run-down of all the basics for little kids (girls and boys), 6-9 year olds. Provides a great set of drills (offense, defense, fundamentals) from basic to intermediate along with recommendations for conducting practices to assist any youth coach in beginning and getting through the season successfully. Recommendations for dealing with parents and developing volunteers were very beneficial. In addition to giving it high marks for its many examples of drills that incorporate all beginning skill sets, it's also an excellent book because it addresses the rewards of the game and the importance of good sportsmanship, teamwork, winning and losing, parental behavior etc.. I refer to it daily in developing my practice and game plan.
