Unusually good find for the right hobbyist
This is an extremely technical but professional-level product that I was lucky to find for this price.

As advertized - parts only
I bought this because I thought I could use the chassis. For a non-working unit, it is in excellent physical shape.
I opened it and found that the board was missing several important components. I wonder how it got out of the factory! Oh well, I have an interesting little chassis.

Dependable base with a somewhat fragile wand.
I broke the wand on mine which is why I needed another one. The wand is definitely the most breakable part. I am an electronics hobbyist and use my soldering station almost every day. I have used industrial- quality soldering stations, and this is near that level and at much less cost. It is important to have a station that has enough power to keep the tip hot while you are soldering, but can also sense when the wand does not need much power. Wands with a simple heater can't do that. Some sort of thermostatic control is essential for professional results. I used non-regulated irons for many years, but would not go back to them now.
