Robust, works well but doesn't make small quantities

I gave this to a friend as a gift. She broke the plastic top part of her previous jug and I thought this would be more robust, which it is. She is pleased with the working of this jug, however she says that the difference between the MIN and MAX setting is too small. She would like to be able to make one bowl of soup but the MIN setting makes about three bowls.
