Briggs & Stratton OEM 594061 replacement cap-fuel tank

Why did Briggs and Stratton do this ??

These caps come off too easily. That strap may be the main culprit. I had a push mower for ten years and never replaced the gas cap. I bought a new mower last summer and have replaced two so far. Briggs needs to go back to their old design.......
