A nice and interesting book about the golden age of Hollywood cinema.
Nice easy-reading book about Esther Williams life & career. An interesting book with lots of anecdotes about Hollywood and its stars. With a direct and never boring style, miss Williams talks about her days as the golden age of cinema mermaid and her personal life and career. Recommended to all the movie lovers interested in knowing a bit more of one of its stars' life.

Probably the best and most interesting series ever filmed about Hollywood silent era and its origins, these series are an essential reference to know how Hollywood was created. Widely documented and narrated by actor James Mason, these Thames Television series produced by David Gill and Kevin Brownlow in 1980 are an imperative for all the cinema students and fans. Includes interviews with film stars and directors such as Colleen Moore, Douglas Fairbanks jr., Lillian Gish, Gloria Swanson, King Vidor, Frank Capra, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and many more; and rare footage and excerpts from films, the series run from cinema origins and their pioneers to the end of the silent era all through the war years. Consisting in 13 chapters: The Pioneers, In the beginning, Single beds & double standards, Hollywood goes to war, Hazard of the game, Swanson & Valentino, The autocrats, Comedy-a serious business, Out West, The Man with the megaphone, Trick of the light, Star treatment, End of an era. Aired on TV in the early 80's, these high quality series have incredibly never been remastered and edited in DVD yet, a problem that should be urgently solved.
