WiIton Super Junior Vise Trounces the Venerable Baby Bullets

Oatey Sure-Vent Cures a Burping Sink
2 of 2 found this helpful The double sink in the kitchen had problems ever since it was installed. When water flowed into one sink, the other drained slowly. Whenever the dishwasher drained into the sink with the garbage disposal, the other sink backed up and burped air up through the trap. Installing separate traps and a large air loop connecting the two P traps failed to improve the drainage or belching. Each sink drained perfectly when it was disconnected from the other sink. Evidently, the drain-waste-vent (DWV) in the household plumbing system was too far from the kitchen sinks to relieve the back pressure while one sink drained.
The solution was to install the Oatey Sure-Vent Air Admittance Valve beneath the kitchen sink. The procedure took less than 15 minutes according to the manufacturer's instructions. The incessant burping and slow drainage ceased. Importantly, there was not a whiff of sewer gas beneath the double sink as the Sure-Vent worked its magic. What a great device!
