The sticky backing will peel the paint right off any painted surface you try to install the light on
0 of 2 found this helpful Do NOT use this product's sticky backing to install it on a painted surface! I tried to attach it to a painted wooded ceiling beam in my basement, and it immediately fell off because it just peeled the paint right off the beam. It does have the option to use screws to install it, but that's more work than I had intended to do. If you don't mind the hassle of using the provided screws, or if you're going to put the sticky backing on a non-painted surface, go for it.
