review of the book on Fort Ord
this book covers completely the abandonment of Fort Ord, which is (was) near Monterey (Seaside, Ca). To really appreciate the item, I guess you have to like this area of the country and/or be interested in a little bit of history. It was closed in the 1990's, but the vastness of this former Military training camp would blow your mind. It's enormity and vastness and now it's all gone, but a few empty barracks that I don't think will be there much longer, because the location of where it was is now prime real estate.
