Excellent for SOME things, with caveats
I was very specifically looking for a high-quality all-glass blender top for making hot soup and Bulletproof Coffee. This thing is still my best choice, but with caveats. While it is rated for use with hot liquids, it was not apparent to me when I bought it that it has a max fill volume of 8 ounces (yes, eight) for hot liquid. That's a small cup of coffee or a tiny bowl of soup. The problem is, the lid attempts to be air-tight, so when blending anything hot, the liquid can't be allowed to reach the lid (it oozes out because of the bad design and positive internal pressure). So believe the marking on the vessel that reads 8 oz MAX HOT FILL.
The clear plastic cap in the center was total junk. It broke in half without even being dropped. I just noticed after a few days of use that it was split. A couple days later, it split right in half and went in the trash. I repurposed the center cap from my Vitamix to plug the hole, which actually makes this Waring a much better hot blender. Now I can blend more than 8 hot ounces because the Vitamix cap (which, by design, is not air-tight) allows hot gas to escape while keeping hot liquid in the blender.
The borosilicate glass bottom is built like a tank. The glass is super thick and there appears to be no location where hot liquid touches plastic. The metal blade base fastens directly to the glass cup and is not user-removable. I have heard complaints about the gear/sprocket on the bottom shearing off, but mine is doing fine, probably because I'm only blending liquids.
With a lid upgrade, this blender would be perfect for my hot liquid blending needs. With a little cap substitution and careful use, I'm now happy with it. The glass portion is solid but the quality and design of the original lid is pretty pathetic.

A must for any MMW fan
A fantastic early effort by MMW. More jazzy than the groove-based music that made them famous but just as enjoyable. Worthy of repeat listening for any MMW fan.

Newer part, direct fit
One of the lug inserts on my 90s Craviotto snare split down the side. This insert is shinier than the one it replaced and clearly manufactured differently (the old version looks like it was turned on a lathe, this version is plated smooth and extra shiny), but it's a direct-fit replacement with the same M5 thread. This part was hard to find. Ace eBaying.
