Heavy enough to cast, light enough to pull in
A good size and weight means that myself and my young teenager are able to cast it out to the rope's full length to ensure you have the best chance of attracting something on the magnet as you have a longer distance to drag it back to you. It was easy to assemble, you just need a broom pole or large screwdriver to put through the eyebolt to provide extra leverage when screwing it tight. It now all sits in a small blue plastic bucket which is ideal for transportation and putting any finds in. The magnet is heavy enough to sink into mud which is where your metal objects will be. The rope is good quality and a perfect width for this - not too bulky or cumbersome in the hand. The fact it clips on and off means you can also remove it, put it in an old pillowcase and then wash it in the washing machine to keep it fresh.
Provided hours of fun on our recent holiday and I would imagine due to the amount of people who stopped and watched us that this will be the next big thing. Much easier than fishing - we didn't have to keep any maggots in the fridge!

Nice fire but takes time and effort to build
When built this is a good looking fire and can slide away conveniently when not in use you would be fooling yourself if you think you would be able to take the screws out and collapse it down again. It is folded flat for shipping to take up less room and once built should be left that way. Building is more difficult than I imagined and if I was unwell or arthritic or generally weak ( or in a cold house) then fitting of the gas hoses would be almost impossible as you do need brute strength to push them home and twist and turn the gas reducer into place. I had to walk away from it several times before finally getting it to fit. Not something you can leave half done as it is gas safety. Now it is finally built it is a lot easier to ignite than our previous heater and I would buy one as long as you understand that building it will take time and effort.
