Windows 7 is old
I bought it to install on refurbished computers. They have not sold too well since Windows 10 was released in August. I am going to try and resell the unopened copies if I can. The software works just fine, it is just too old.

Nice scanner if you are patient
I bought the scanner because I have a big stack of web pages from paying bills online. I sorted the papers but haven't yet scanned them all. I have scanned a few. The scanner came without a CD or any software but I was able to download it from HP. I run Windows 7 on the machine it is connected to. I have been able to scan a few things, both in the glass and through the feedfer. In the feeder I can't give it a stack of papers and wait for it to go through them. I have to give hte feeder one page at a time, but it works. I have also gotten good results from scanning things on the glass. The scanner has a wide range of resolutions but I just use 200 x 200 per inch. That is hte default.
This scanner can also scan both sides of a page. That takes longer and uses more memory but it works well. It scans one side, puts the paper in the output tray, then feeds it back in from the output tray. Scanning both sides is the default but you can change that behavior, but you have to change it every time, you can't seem to change the default.
All in all I am very happy with this scanner. My criticisms are minor.

Work well
I have one base unit and two extension units. I have my captioning phone on one. I have my phone strobe on another. I have had them before. They put the telephone signals on top of hte electricalsystem. They were shipped quickly and were packed well.
