Definitely my stranded on a deserted island book pick
This is my favorite book of all time. I'm on my about 7th reading of it since it first came out. It's not everyone's cup of tea (so far, no one I've ever recommended it to was able to get into it), but if you think Dan Brown type stuff is compelling, get ready to supersize it (and really there's no comparison as Umberto Eco blows him away by many orders of magnitude). This book is the OG on all of this stuff, put together into a riveting historical fiction novel that will have you feeling like you've stepped into the story, yourself and have been inserted into this conspiracy, and you'll be looking over your shoulder everywhere you go to see if anyone's on to you.
