If you like the Caravelle, this one's for you!
The 1:144-scale Airfix kit is one of four I have. Although purists may find the panel lines out of scale and lacking detail, I like the crisp molding, the lack of flash, and some really nicely-done and reasonably-accurate small parts such as the two mall intakes at the base of the vertical stabilizer. Given the scale, the wheels are superbly done and the gear legs and struts are far better than those of similarly-scaled Caravelle models made by other manufacturers. I like the hard plastic molding, too, especially because it "takes" the modifications I made nicely. (I like the newer Caravelle models with their larger cockpit windows and sleeker nose, so Bondo has become my prime modification medium …) In short, there are many reasons to like this little model.

Smooth and easy ...
Like all the Tamiya lacquers I have used, the Tamiya TS-17 Aluminum silver lacquer is very fine-grained and sprays on very smoothly. If you have not used Tamiya lacquers before, practice on a piece of scrap -- learn the proper spraying distance and duration to achieve the desired results and to avoid drips! Another good feature: After the lacquer cures -- I usually give it at least 24 hours -- Tamiya masking tape won't damage the lacquer.
I believe you'll really like this lacquer -- take a look at the photo of one of my Caravelle models and note the results. You can paint enamels over the lacquer, so I have no trouble masking panels and painting various shades of aluminum and silver to mimic metal differences that are evident on the real airplane.

DYMO tape helps make scribing easy!
If you are serious about modeling, especially aircraft modeling, this is an essential toolbox component. Want to scribe panels, especially on curved surfaces? DYMO tape will help guide your scriber. I wouldn't use a scriber without it!
