Hot Stuff
Excellent product for high output pickups. Easy to wind, sturdy, light and packs a tight wind. Soldering is a breeze.

Let there be Light
10 of 10 found this helpful Okay so this is not the most expensive or rugged lighting setup. But it is a very good cost effective way to light up a small home based studio without breaking the bank. I found that there was plenty of light for photo shots without pushing the ISO to the limit or setting the aperture wide open. Could set the camera white balance to Auto and get colors that needed little in processing to come in right. Setting the white balance with a card gave a slight different hue than the Auto but both were in the realm of natural color. The 6500K bulbs are a bit cool in the Kelvin arena but shooting in RAW with Auto or white carding will produce a good color that can be warmed in processing. I tried a quick setup with a keylight, fill and hairlight and even though I had some distance from my subject to softbox gave a well lit setting even in the dark of my living room it wasn't perfect but my first outing with the softboxes showed potential. (See Picture) Now back to the build like I said it isn't the most rugged and in a commercial high volume studio one would probably want to opt for a much more robust setup. But for a small home studio or just for practicing lighting techniques you can't beat the cost here. I used fish tank gravel in my counterweight boom and had excellent balance. I set up lights to shoot video and some still photography and these will let me get professional results at minimum costs.

Good Glass
What's good there are three glasses for replacement or if you do not have much luck with the first. Glass is sturdy and with a few bumps I have had held up well. Seems to be a good protector.
What's not good? The glass of the K7 is a bit curved the protector glass is flat so it doesn't lay exactly flat. It does cover 95% and does protect but it still lays flat and doesn't curve with the phone glass. Is this a problem? Not really it is good glass for the price and comes in 3's. I would buy it again.
