Effective in the 5GHz band
Especially effective in the 5GHz band. Added about 5 dB extra gain in both transmit and receive. The receive part is key since the transmit part can be somewhat compensated with higher transit power.

Completely useless
The receiver output bounces up and down randomly even when the transmitter is off. Virtually useless.

Can not be used as a boost converter
3 of 4 found this helpful I tried to use this as a simple boost converter to boost an input of 7 to 8 volts to an output of 12V with 2A current limit. I was not able to do that. No matter how I adjust the CC (current limiter pot) pot, the device shut down as soon as a 12 ohm load (1 A output) is connected to the output. To be useful as a current limiting boost converter, it should just limit the output current, not shut down. Not to mention the output can't even deliver 12W output power.
