8's? Sure, why not?
2 of 2 found this helpful I usually play 10's, but thought I would try super light gauge strings on a guitar I don't play often... an old Warmoth Telecaster project guitar.
Oh and what fun it was to play once the 8's were on and tuned up! 8's are just fun to play and what's wrong with that? Yes, you have to play differently and with a much lighter touch, but it has benefits.
1. You don't have to work so hard. Especially when it comes to bending.
2. Bends, bends, bends! Yes, you can do some pretty wild bends that aren't really possible without great effort using a heavier gauge string set.
So, if you have an extra guitar that you don't use much, put 8's on it and have a little fun. You might surprise yourself and find that you like playing them.
