Stylish modern lighting

Lightweight, easy to assemble, easy to hang, will handle up to 60W. The instructions for assembly are a bit lacking, but any logical mind can figure it out. The only slight negative is that it is so lightweight, it can be slightly susceptible to air currents. I found this out because it is hanging about 5 feet over an air duct for heating-a/c. When the air conditioning comes on, the lamp swings slightly. Hardly a deal breaker.

A remembrance of a time and place, well-written

Great book, but maybe not what you'd expect. It is more descriptive of the places, people, attitudes, culture, celebrations, religion, etc., and not so much stories and narrative as you might expect from having seen the BBC television series. That is no criticism. It is a very personal and informative book, with some anecdotes and tales sprinkled in with the descriptions, especially toward the end of this book. The illustrations add to the excellence of this volume as well.

A humorous, serious, well-played live outing with Steve Goodman in top form

I saw Steve Goodman live once, playing solo as an opener for John Prine in a large venue. These recordings are probably typical of his live work with a small group. The sound quality is not top notch, but very good. What makes it special is Goodman's spirit and energy, which I think were better in a live setting than a studio recording. There is no theme to this record -- it runs the gamut of emotions and styles. It is full of heart, humanity, and humor, and that's why I like it.
