A good compact camera that takes quality photos. A pleasure to own.

I have been a photo freak for most of my life, and enjoy taking photos just for the hell of it. Digital was a blessing for me, as with films I could not afford to take the amount of photos that I wished to, where as with digital, I can take them to my hearts content, down load onto my computer, and delete those that I don't want. I purchased another Canon Digital for my wife three years ago before we went on a trip from Qld to Western Australia via South Aust, than up to Broom and back through the Territory. She had a ball taking in all over 7000 photos. As we are planning another trip, I decided to get a good camera, thus my decision to purchase the PowerShot SX 500. To date I am very satisified with the quality of photos that I have taken. If I was to be picky, I would say it would be nice to have a view finder, but really not necessary as the screen on the camera is of good quality. The zoom is adequate for what I wish to take. For someone wishing to take good quality shots, I would have no hesitation in recommending them this camera.
