Well researched and written an essential reference to the times.

They say history is written by the victorious. Unfortunately for us this is true for the most part. The american Native wrote nothing for the future generations of its side of the story in these early years of foreign occupation. This book gives a more sympathetic view of the story of Metacom as much as such a thing is possible. I found it an enjoyable book on the subject with loads of reference to other writings.

an entertaining read I enjoyed it very much

It is easy to forget your reading a Novel as the historical characters in this story are real and referenced in many historical narratives. This Novel gives a colorful speculative on the side of history that typically are not addressed in history books. It delves into the personal lives, thoughts and attitudes of the people of the time and the troubles they faced. Is it real? Is it make beleive? IMHO it simply takes histortical fact and adds the color of a first person biography. I view my reading of history from as many perspectives on a subject as I can find. I found this book fun, entertaining and informative.
