Timeless design, still a great value.
I carried one of these backpacking many, many years ago, and I loved it. The new one is the same quality and construction as my old antique. It seems to me that the candles are easier to come by than they used to be. This was in the days well before REI, mind you. Candles are easy to find these days. If you are not a fan of cold, electronic light, get this! It's great.

Still a great product after 90+ years!
I started using Huberd's Shoe Grease in the 1950s. It still works very well for keeping all sorts of smooth leather supple, soft and water-repellent. At 73 years of age, I don't hike and camp as much as I did fifty years ago, so a can lasts me a good long while. It's getting harder to find, but it's worth the search.

Great for those of us who don't like cold electronic light.
The nice warm glow of flame is the only way to go on a cool, windy night in the mountains. The quality of this lantern is great, just as good as the one I carried forty or fifty years ago. Buy one!
