A Mighty Fine Rockin' DVD!
While I am new to Status Quo, I have quickly become a fan of their Boogie Rock sound, and this CD/DVD combo is a fine example of the band performing that style of music in its later years. That needs to be understood because there is Status Quo of the 1960s that sounds very 1960s-ish (they even covered the classic "Judy in Disguise"), and then there is the era from the 1970s on where they have made one catchy rockin' tune after another. While I cannot say it is the definitive and/or ultimate Quo, this is a good concert. Therefore, if you like to boogie with your rock, this is essential for any collector. "Qou-oh-oh-oh-oh!"

A Pile of Rockin' Tunes
As a Dave Edmunds fan, I thought I had all of his music until a friend told me of this CD. It is not Dave's best studio LP but, for real fans, it is not at all bad and, thus, is worth having. Dave has back up vocal assistance but, unlike the better known "Seconds of Pleasure" by his group, Rockpile, he is the lead on all vocals. Not every song is what I call 'gut-busting rock and roll' but all of the tunes are upbeat. So crank it us and enjoy! (FYI: Listening to the CD with headphones is recommended.)

Yes, it's Styx live but...
Styx fans have waited patiently for four decades for a good live cd, and the wait continues because this 2CD set is not it. Attention to final production details is noticeably lacking. First, the sound is not 2017 remastered quality. Next, on CD 1 Track 5, the 9:10 version of “You Need Love” listed is not “You Need Love.” It is “Suite Madam Blue.” On CD2, "You Need Love" is incorrectly listed with a question mark. "Born for Adventure." Is the end of one show and the start of another. It works, but is a less than ideal CD set listing. Most important, is that on Suite Madam Blue on CD 2, there is what sounds like static that goes from the 4:20-5:00 mark. Also, the line in the song Lorelei that normally says, "Tonight's the night she's moving in. It's time to celebrate" gets changed to “masturbate.” That is not a prudish comment. Rather, it underscores that this was not the best of Styx live that is available. The one redeeming quality about “The Grand Illusive Crystal Balls” is that Styx released live music from perhaps their most famous, peak era. So, it’s encouraging that more live Styx music maybe on the way.
