Deceptive advertising
This is not a one eighth inch thick foam as advertised! It is not even quite one sixteenth of an inch. It is being advertised incorrectly and deceptively.

Great little compass
Staedtler has been a well-known name in the precision drafting and measurement tool industry for a long time.
This compass has the distinction of being completely made of metal parts. Normally, such characteristic alone is not sufficient grounds for rating a product highly, but in this day and age where seemingly virtually every drawing compass on the offer has important components made of plastic - components which should really be made of metal in order to provide increased reliability and resistance against wear and tear - this fact alone qualifies it as a superior product. Of course, the workmanship is good, and the compass does its job pretty well. It is a bare bone set with just the compass and a technical pen head, plus one spare lead replacement in a lead storage capsule. Accordingly, if you need an extension arm or pen/pencil adapter, you will not find them in this set.
The product is made in Italy, and its quality is superior compared to many similar products. If you are looking for a decent metal compass, I think you will be satisfied with this one.
