Most intricate and detailed book with a necessity of proficiency in physics
This is not a book for the casual reader, not by a long shot; It states on the e-bay add that the target audience for this book is ages 12-18; While this may be true, I think it reads differently for adults since the book appears to be very rich in Psychology, Physics, Math and Biology and I didn't feel I had such knowledge until after I had finished college, and even that wasn't enough, but I tackled the book with great difficulty, and when I had completed reading the book, I had considered it an accomplishment. True, the vocabulary was somewhat flowery, as would many books written in Prep-School style for kids 12-18 years in age. It is definitely a rewarding book to have read, and for a small book, it packs in a large base of knowledge, though I cannot say a whole lot happens in this book, but I do plan on reading the rest of the Ringworld series.
Recommended only for the Hard Core Science-Fiction enthusiast.

A Science Fiction Classic; A Real Page Turner!
This book was pretty impressive; I have read all of L. Ron Hubbard's Dianetics Books, so I only know L. Ron Hubbard as the Dianetics/Church of Scientology Pioneer and founder. Reading A Very Strange Trip was not only a real page turner, but fascinating insight into unique descriptions of Time, Travel and History. By reading a real easy to read thriller, I also learned a great deal about the fascinating mind of L. Ron Hubbard in his endless pursuit and detail of a Science Fiction Novel, competitive against many other Science Fiction Kings, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov and Aldous Huxley, to name a few.
