Overclocking mobo
EP45T-UD3P is one of the best core 2 quad overclocking motherboards in the world. It is capable of handling astronomical FSB speeds in range sometimes exceeding 600MHz - that means 5GHz+ on some CPU models. If CPU has a locked multiplier than EP45T series is the BEST way to go. The DDR3 "T" variant is usually overclocking better than DDR2 variant due to less stress caused by RAM on the MCH/NB. And it has better DDR3 compatibility and memory OC potential than my Asus P5Q3 Deluxe (with 4x4GB Asus can barely maintain stability @1333MHz).
Also it is possible to run LGA771 Xeon CPU's after some modifications to the socket and BIOS.
I recommend EP45T-UD3P to everyone.

For extreme overclocking only
QX9770 is an Intel's CPU with unlocked multiplier for LGA775 platform. Standard clock is 8x400. CPU is less common than QX9650 but it overclocks very similar. The problem is with Intel's decision to use C0 and C1 die revisions for extreme series cpu's of that era, while E0 is much better suited for overclocking. Unless you are planning to extreme overclock it (with LN2 or dry ice) then there is really no point to buy this model. Locked Q9650 E0 revision will do better clocks under more commonly found cooling solutions and modded Xeon X5460/X5470 will do much better if your motherboard can support it.

Great for overclocking
If overclocking is your thing and you have intel's LGA1150 platform look for 4770k. With some tinkering in the BIOS it's capable of reaching higher frequencies than 4790k would. The best ones are from early Malay batches manufactured just after 2013 week 10. Also it's worth to mention that highest DDR3 frequency validation scores are done with this cpu model. Intel has built some great memory controller into them.
On the other hand if you just want to use your LGA1150 machine for gaming, or applications that are memory intensive then it's better to find i7-5775C (thanks to it's massive L4 cache it simply is the best gaming cpu on this platform).
