The Rise of Western Christendom by Peter Brown
For those of you who know the books of Christopher Dawson, I can tell you that Peter Brown follows the same line of in-depth, balanced scholarship. However, Peter Brown is light-years ahead on account of all the research that has intervened since Dawson published his works.
The book is exceedingly well written, the weakest point being the maps.

Replaced broken unit
Fixed problem but replacing failed unit takes some doing

What a piece of junk!
Totally dysfunctional. The two disks meant to grind cannot do the job: if you tight them you can't crank. If you keep a couple of mm between them you get a very coarse powder. A blender or a coffee grinder does a much, much, better job.
To make matters worse, you can't return it because it weighs so much that the shipping cost are more than the refund
