Not for Me
1 of 2 found this helpful I already had Seasons 2 and 3, which I enjoyed, and then bought Season 1 to round out my collection. However, in Season 1, the show had not yet found its way. There are some inappropriate remarks, and Bob and Emily are very argumentative and sarcastic. Bob is overly authoritarian, and Emily whines a lot.
As of Season 2, Bod and Emily are portrayed as more supportive of each other -- still some tension between them, but more within the realm of true comedy. Personally, I would skip Season 1 and start with Seasons 2 and 3 -- which are basically commentary on balancing marriage and career in the changing times of the early 1970's.

True to the Season
I was never a Martina fan, but I love the way she sings Christmas carols. She sings with great feeling and yet subdued with a very spiritual quality.

Recipes for a Lifetime
This is a thorough cookbook for the serious cook or student. It is printed on heavy and semi-glossy paper. There are color photographs and also ink drawings. Some recipes call for items which some people might not be able to find or to afford: swordfish steaks, leg of veal, liqueurs, etc. Some recipes call for items which do not seem especially from that country, such as worcestershire sauce. But most recipes are workable and could be modified. The cooking time for most recipes is 45 minutes to 2 hours, and usually serves 4 to 6 people.
Even if you cannot follow the recipes 100 percent, you might find ideas for your own cooking preferences -- substituting certain ingredients. If you enjoy cookbooks, and if you buy this at a bargain price, you might just read the recipes as a form of relaxation. I have always admired traditional cooking and I am glad I bought this cookbook. It will keep me interested and busy for a long time.
