Good, inexpensive device. Recommended.
I recommend this device as a good value way to protect your fish. Only one caveat, and that is that you might get false alarms after a rainy spell. The cord that surrounds the pond is nylon like fishing line, and the idea is that a heron will disturb the line by pressing against it which pulls the plunger at the alarm unit. Nylon is hygroscopic which means that it absorbs moisture. The cord/line then gets longer when it has absorbed atmospheric moisture/rain, and if you notice this and take up the slack, then when a dry spell comes along the nylon dries out and becomes shorter again which makes the alarm hyper-sensitive or even to go off spontaneously. As long as you are aware of this and maintain the line at the correct tension as per the instructions, there will not be a problem.
This device is exceptionally good value and will certainly operate if a heron presses against it when stalking your fish. Quite what reaction you'll get from the heron is anyone's guess, but I haven't lost any fish since I installed my alarm.

Excellent value
2 of 2 found this helpful I would have given five stars to this but a couple of things made me not do so. The first is not Samsung's fault and that is that the supplier in my case has clearly obtained stock destined for Europe as my 'phone was set up in the Italian language with Italian instructions. To be fair the sales description said the manual might not be in English, but some inbuilt apps were none too easy to change from Italian and one has defeated me.
The second thing is that my particular 'phone wouldn't connect to the Internet via mobile data until I trawled my provider's website for a guide on how to set it up. Buying a SIM free handset might carry this problem I suppose, but my previous ones (one Samsung) were set up automatically by inserting the SIM card.
All in all the 'phone was summed up perfectly by my son (an iPhone owner) when he said that it's an iPhone but with Samsung written on it and a fraction of the cost. A slight overstatement perhaps, but not by much!

2 of 3 found this helpful I bought this item on spec, as it were, to upgrade my Humax 9200T PVR - not what the vendor sells them for, so at my own risk. As far as I can tell thus far it is doing the job well and I can recommend anyone who finds 160Gb insufficient to risk the money on one of these to upgrade to 500Gb. The supplier's service is excellent and the item perfect. The Humax section of Digital spy forum will provide advice on the adaptors needed.
