John Deere 42C Deck Mulching Kit

Works great, tricky to install

I mowed with this kit installed for the first time today and am very happy with the results. Instead of having big mounds of grass all over the yard I have an even coating of finely chopped clippings. Some sites are selling this kit as being compatible with all 42-inch John Deere mowers, but it is not a good fit for all of them. It does not fit the D-series (sold by Lowes) although it can be installed with some extra steps. I should mention that the listing here on ebay was correct and did not say it was compatible with the D-series. I knew about this issue when I bought it and knew how to deal with it. Because the screw doesn't align with the existing hole, I had to drill a new hole in my D-130's mower deck and use a clamp to get it to conform to the lip of the mower deck. Also, it was necessary to remove the mower deck to install. Once I did all that, it worked very well, and the price here on ebay is $30 less than most online retailer sites. Very happy with my purchase.

Easy fix

Piece of cake to install, OEM part fixed an annoying problem, quick ship, good quality. Thumbs up.

Needed better traction, these babies did the trick.

Swapped out the original Carlisle tires that came with my John Deere D130 and am very happy with the results. I live on a hilly piece of property and the old tires would constantly spin out on a slope. These tires were pricey but the extra traction is well worth it. Also I didn't want to deal with unmounting and mounting and took the easy route of buying these, which arrived inflated to the correct tire pressure and I installed them both in under 10 minutes. They're slightly rougher on the turf than the other tires but not so much that it harms the grass. Very happy and highly recommend.
