Cool
Minimalist but inventive rock & roll. Mostly succinct, mid-tempo songs that emphasize the singer's voice and rhythm, not lead guitar. Consistently likable throughout.

Outstanding but not convinced all are the best-sounding versions
This package is a great way to start a Miles Davis collection. It has what I think is the best jazz album ever (Kind of Blue), and the others are excellent with the exception of Jazz Track, which is ranges from excellent to decent soundtrack music (it is a soundtrack after all).
As far as sound quality, there's not a big difference in sound between these and the best available stereo versions. If you're a purist and want the "original" version as intended by the artist and producers, this is it. However, there's a reason stereo superseded mono, and some may prefer the stereo versions. In fact, just like the Beatles mono CD releases, I sometimes prefer the mono and sometimes the stereo - it's just personal preference. If I had had good stereo versions of these, I would have passed on this box.
