Robot Hand Robotic Arm Edge Technology Freak Geek Command Battery Toy OWI NEW

    Would never buy again
Assembly time ~ five hours. 35-page assembly manual. Ugh. No young kid would have the patience for that. Once it's finished, it's frustrating to use. When you release a control, the motor gradually slows down before stopping, so it never stops where you want it to ... it always "overshoots" the mark. That makes it nearly impossible, for example, to pick up something on the table ... the arm goes past the "target" before it finally stops. (Imagine if you didn't have brakes on your car, and you had to wait for it to randomly coast to a stop!) Wires are incredibly flimsy and stiff, so I suspect they won't last too long. Design is ridiculous ... for example you need to remove screws and disassemble the base in order to change or remove the batteries! (Yet the instructions say "After use be sure to remove the batteries.") What were they thinking? I would not take another one of these even if someone offered it to me for free. Do yourself (or your kids) a favor ... buy something else instead!
Relay Module 1 channel Remote Control Switch Wireless IR 12V DC N4R4

    Barely adequate, but disappointing.
A quick test confirms that this works somewhat ... On, Off. Further experiment reveals that it works reliably only up to about eight feet (between transmitter and receiver). At that, the transmitter needs to be carefully aimed toward the receiver. At ten feet, operation is starting to be unreliable. At eleven feet, it doesn't work at all. This is MUCH SHORTER distance than the 8m (26 feet) claimed in the listing. I guess if you need to control something only six or eight feet away, this would be OK. Frankly, if I were controlling something that close, I'd just walk over and flip the switch on the device. If you're bedridden or in a wheelchair, this might have some useful application. I have not tested this through glass (to simulate using it through a windshield, for example). I would think the reflections from the glass would reduce the range even more. And if the glass has an anti-IR layer (like some windshields, to reduce heat from sunlight in the vehicle) then it might not work at all in that situation. Given the initial short range, I think this would be quite useless from inside a car to outside (e.g. for a garage door). I give this a qualified recommendation because it does work. It's a "good value" only because I paid less than $4.00. I guess it's a miracle that it works at all ... but only a small miracle. With a range of only 8 feet, this will not work where I intended to use it. I said "no" to good quality, because the range is so much shorter than advertised. Also, out of the package I immediately noticed that the IR detector was leaning about 15º to the left. Not leaning forward / backward simply because the leads were bent. Leaning to the left, because it was badly soldered into the board. Of course this would have no effect on operation, but it made the thing look pretty shoddy. After conducting the above tests, I was able to re-solder the detector and get it upright, so the board at least looks like it was made by someone competent. My main disappointment is that the range is so short. If the listing had said "8 feet" to begin with, I never would have ordered it. All in all, it's the price of a burger at Wendy's. Can't expect greatness for $4.00. Meh.

Universal 6 Key Learning Remote Smart Control Controller For TV STB DVD DVB HIFI

NOT "universal." Only learned THREE (3) codes, not six.
I tried to "learn" the codes for my Sony Trinitron TV. It learned only THREE of the six codes: power, vol+, vol-. It did NOT learn ch+, ch-, or mute. YMMV with different TVs ... some might be better, some might be worse. But it clearly is NOT "universal" for all TVs.
