Hiker Pro is the best
If you want to drink water safely in the backcountry, you need a way to purify water from its source. There are smaller and lighter products that maybe handy for ultralight backpacking. But if you want a water filter that fills things quickly with clear, fresh tasting safe water, if you want one that absolutely will not fail in the backcountry, if access to clean safe water is your number one concern, the Katadyn Hiker Pro is the best. This one is my second one that I bought for a gift. My first one - still working perfectly after 25 years (!) was made under the previous manufacturer - Pur. No wonder Katadyn wanted to acquire this product line. It is simply The Best.

It works!
I once could get excited to talk about making my own Espresso. Now, it's rare. What I want: espresso that is no fuss, from a machine that doesn't cost a fortune. The brand Mr Coffee is it! I'd say I would look no further, but all of my machines have died eventually. I guess I'm shopping for a new machine every 3 years or so. It's possible that I wouldn't have this turnover if I just spent, oh, say, at least $300, maybe up to a $thousand (!, please!). Instead I buy another $40-$80 Mr Coffee. What I like that is unique: I can brew 4 shots of espresso at once! Seriously I haven't found another at any price that will do that! Well, this new one doesn't either - oh well. No, this time I SPLURGED and spent $150. The espresso is noticeably better. Maybe because it extracts with respectable pressure. One thing I LOVE about it - you can remove the filter immediately after it has drawn one, and not have it explode all over you and everything else in a 5' radius. Why, if I bought a second Double filter, I could be back to extracting 4 shots (almost) at once. The milk frother apparatus works very well, and while a Cappuccino on occasion is nice, it's not feature I'd purposely pay extra for. In conclusion, the Cafe Barista did not break the bank, makes adequately fine espresso, and cleans up easily. We'll see if it lasts more than 3 years.
