Best bang for the buck!
Excellent receiver on these, though they are dogs out of the box as far as audio and tx power. A quick trip to a knowledgeable person (as far as tuning power only, no mods) these radios work as well as anything else I have ever used, if not better. I hear they may have stopped making them, so one may wish to consider getting one before they are gone if this is the case! Only thing I do not like is the stock mic, as it is garbage, but I expected that. The channel selector is an encoder, so if you try to switch channels quickly it will skip both directions. I have found that I no longer “turn” the encoder, as I now only turn or “bump” it just enough to switch channels. Even now that it is peaking around 38-42 watts on AM, you can ratchet jaw all you want and the heat sink barely warms up. Overall this radio has really impressed me for what it is.
