Well rounded radar detector.
1 of 1 found this helpful First off, i bought this radar knowing it has since been made obsolete by Beltronics. My impression of this was that perhaps it was obsolete due to sales or the laser jammer portion being upgraded. I also see new detectors out there with a gps and red light camera detector. Needless to say, i needed something mainly for the K and Ka band in my area. Another requirement i had was the stealth installation; i didnt want wires all over the place and a cluster on my dashboard or windshield.
With my requirements in mind, i opted to install the device myself. There are warnings all over the packaging stating to seek professional installation and that Beltronics is not responsible for damage to the individual or car. This install was no more difficult than installing a car stereo.
After doing much research on forums about the proper location to position the front and rear jammers i installed these first. I ended up removing the front bumper on my '10 Civic SI to ease with the installation process. This granted me better access for mounting the front jammers and radar antenna and running the multiple wires for all the devices. With the jammers and antenna installed on the front, the bumper was put back on. The installation of the rear jammer was a snap. Drill the hole in the trunk for the wire to pass through; the sensor mounts to the top of the license plate. My first thought about getting the jammers and antenna head installed was how stealth it looked. The black color of these pieces makes it blend in nice with the grill and license plate frame of my car.
On the inside, i had the LED, external speaker, and display unit to mount. The hub was positioned inside the center console. The display unit was mounted to the underside of my dash using double sided tape. I found an easy to see yet easy to install location for the LED. The speaker went on the underside of the dash up by the steering column.
Finally! My install was complete. Time for a road test! I first thought the device was broken as it wasnt going off detecting any store alarms. Its been about ten years since i had a radar detector and remember them ALWAYS going off. I got up on the Florida turnpike headed towards work about 1.25 miles away from a State Police barracks the radar went off, detecting the Ka band. 1.25 miles later, there was the cop car. Amazing! I am thuroughly impressed with this units ability to detect X, K, and Ka. It does it with amazing distances and has the ability to detect multiple threats at the same time. As for the laser jammer portion, police in my area do not use laser so i havent been able to use this part of it yet.
Overall, i am VERY please with the unit. The audible gigher counter type of sound which gets quicker as you approach the source is noiceable. The unit announces the band when first detected by saying "X band!" or "Ka band!". You can permanently mute this and go by the blinking LED and unit display only if you wanted. The unit does have options you can turn on/off but i havent had much use for them. In my opinion, the unit is perfect out of the box. The radar detection portion of this unit is bulletprood.
I did some research and compared this to the RX75 replacement. Beltronics ZR4 is a laser jammer oly; it does not detect X, K, or Ka. The jammers are a bit more sensative as well. You can get the jammer sensors from Beltronics and they will work for this unit (confirmed by Beltronics customer service).

Fits my 2019 Stinger GT1 RWD
OEM product fits my 2019 Stinger GT1 RWD.
I prefer the OEM all weather floor mats over aftermarket. These are made of the thicker rubber with the stinger name visible on the front mats. They are designed to contour the shape of the floorboard and have the slots which secure to the retaining mat hooks.
