Escape Fire: The Fight To Rescue American Healthcare [DVD] NEW

    Tis NOT Healthcare...tis Health Industry
Had not heard of this title until browsing y'all's aisles for another film....but, it sounded intriguing!! This documentary explored a realm of the Health Industry, which few talk about, yet when laid out in plain sight, becomes obvious. Twill go next to my copy of Michael Moore's "Sicko," and I will reference this film in future discussions.

    Altec Lansing XT1 Computer Speakers
I was looking for a truley portable speaker system to pack in my carry-on, which would deliver good sound quality, not weigh a ton, nor take up a cubit when packed. I've several Altec Lansing products for my home and portable iTunes collections, and the sound profiles are pleasing to my ears. (My ears also like some of the JBL products, Bose, and Harmon-Karden, if this helps.) The ONLY disappointment I have with these is that they're not as loud as I would've liked. However, I assume that is because of, first off, the power. These are USB powered! (My others are AC powered.) Second off, I assume the size of the speaker drivers limits how much volume they can safely pump out. That being said, they STILL do what I need them to do, and mostly they are a significant upgrade from the standard built-in computer speakers. I will also qualify my observations by saying it was a nice surprise that they were backward compatible to my USB 1 laptop, with no other modifications or additional parts. My aged G-3 Pismo Mac Powerbook, (maxed out with upgrades!) is what I travel with. In that vein, it seemed they had a bit more presence when I hooked them up to my USB 2 desktop machine, but that I assume is because of the additional power flowing through that more modern connection. In summary, very pleased with the speaker system and what I need it to do. Good, crisp sound quality, very light weight, the system packs down to about the size of a paperback book, and has USB 1 and USB 2 compatibility. If shopping for this system, make sure the purchase includes the unique wiring system or be ready/able to make your own. The unique carrying case for this system is also worth consideration as it adds to the portability factor, as well as extra padded security for your purchase. I won't be rattling the shingles with these speakers, but WILL be able to better enjoy my iTunes, DVD's, etc, with better quality sound in the small hotel rooms and efficiencies I typically stay in.

    Flying below the radar!!
A rather quiet story which kinda slipped under the radar. I've only seen it once, when flipping thru channels back in the day, but became engrossed in both the story and characters. If'n you enjoyed "Matchstick Men" with Nicholas Cage, you'll appreciate this film, too. The characters go deeper into the manipulations of minds and reasonings through the careful alignments of perspectives. That may sound a bit "high brow," but the director and actors keep it all relatable, leaving you with an uneasy question: "Is anybody doing likewise to Me??" Besides the Cage film mentioned above, "Now You See Me" also comes to mind, altho this film has far less "special effects" which also strengthens its believability!!
