Small and unobtrusive. Like all of these types of products won't know how effective they are until they are needed. Follow the instructions regarding correct positioning and regular testing and maybe that may give you better reassurance. Ten year guarantee seems a good indicator to buy it but how many modern day built products and technology last that long?
