65 mm Miniature Asian Female Nude is Affordable and Exquisite
As one who makes dioramas, I look for the hard-to-find human figure. And as anyone else who does this knows, completely unclothed ones, who fit into any historical period, are the rarest. This most reasonably-priced woman ($10) is a beautiful sculpt in minute detail. All anatomical details are present. She doesn't come with a stand, so I had to make one, which wasn't hard. Unpainted gray plastic resin, the material takes to acrylic art paint very well. She now stands like Eve in an Eden-like miniature jungle setting, looking extremely lifelike. At the moment I am unable to send a picture. A great bargain, and highly recommended. I wish there were more of these available, female and male!

EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS Color Version Delivers Satisfaction
I was surprised to find this disc (a 2-disc package) slightly difficult to get; I'd assumed it would be more easily available, which is why I had delayed collecting it. Fortunately, this used copy arrived in perfect condition. The DVD is one of four black and white films expertly colorized under the supervision of Ray Harryhausen: SAUCERS (1956), his own TWENTY MILLION MILES TO EARTH (1957) and IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA (1955) and Merian C. Cooper's SHE (1935). All are worth getting, and contain the option of watching in black and white or the new color. They have numerous fascinating extras and commentary tracks, which include the extremely knowledgeable Harryhausen. The film is notable for being his single example of "pure" science fiction (his others all partake of fantasy narratives and elements, though the earlier films contain more science-fictional aspects). To me, this DVD is indeed a good value and a key piece of a limited and necessary set. Highly recommended!

PNSO Placochelys, Mesozoic Rarity, Meets This Company's High Standard
Like everything else from PNSO, this small effigy of a restored Placodont, by name Placochelys Glyphoderma (the correct spelling is Placochelys, not "Placocheyls") is a great addition to the collection of anyone who is thrilled by the study of ancient life. It should be noted that Placochelys is not a dinosaur but a different Mesozoic reptilian form. It resembles a turtle, courtesy of Convergent Evolution, yet is not one. As an example of aquatic Secondary era fauna, it goes with your Plesiosaurs, Mososaurs and Icthyosaurs, if you have them. Placodonts are in fact extremely rare among prehistoric sculpted figures; indeed, I know of no others. Again-- all PNSO figures are worth the attention of the serious collector, and this economically-priced one is no exception. Placodonts are thought to have subsisted upon bivalves, which they dived for. The creature is shown, appropriately, in a dynamic swimming posture. I find no fault with the coloration. The relatively small size is also welcome to one whose display shelves are cluttered with larger creatures. Recommended!
