Basic but dependable
The built quality on this is overall good. The joystick is sturdy, the throttle has a satisfying slide, and the pedals are really substantial.
The buttons on the joystick feel mushy; I would prefer a solid click, but they work fine. I wish there were more buttons on the joystick, but it's one of the only ambidextrous designs I've found. Switching to left hand is easy, but the hand rest doesn't lock into place well and rotates a bit during use. The buttons on the base of the joystick feel clicky and are textured to make finding them easier.
The throttle feels great, mostly because of the slide. The only problem is that most space games have some kind of reverse function, which makes using the throttle less efficient than a dual joystick setup. All of the buttons, hats, joystick, knobs, nubs, and wheels feel durable but not every game recognizes all of them. Everspace didn't notice some of the hats. Elite Dangerous recognized everything.
The pedals came with a proprietary plug that only plugs into the throttle, not the joystick. If you want to plug it in directly to your computer, you'll need to buy the USB adapter from Thrustmaster. This means that when I'm playing dual joystick games (with the Logitech 3d Pro I already own as my right hand stick), I still need to have the throttle plugged in so that I can connect the pedals. It's slightly inconvenient. You'll also probably end up calibrating the pedals to get them to respond the way you expect them to. I had to make adjustments so that my ship wouldn't automatically fly upward all the time.
With those things in mind, it's a well built, if basic, HOTAS setup that I heartily recommend if you can find it at a good price. Great for people who want to get something simple and reliable without breaking the bank.
