A Flawed Solution
1 of 1 found this helpful About all I can say about this mic is that it's affordable and does an acceptable job when securely mounted to the camera. It's that "securely" part that's the issue. If you try to "run and gun" with it, you must remember to double check that it's making perfect contact with the camera. If comes just a little loose (Which it does virtually any time the camera is jostled), it doesn't function, but still overrides the camera's built-in mic. All you wind up with is static. When I'm hustling trying to get multiple shots from various positions, the mic shakes loose. If I don't remember to push it securely back into place, I have no usable audio.

Just What I Needed
1 of 1 found this helpful Nothing about this camera surprised me. I already had one that was everything I needed it to be. I have a YouTube channel and the content calls for two-camera shoots. I tried to go a cheap route with the second camera, but too many issues. I finally broke down and bought a second HF G20. Excellent image quality. I'm sure it has a number of great features that I simply don't need; but what I do need, it provides. Sound quality is ideal. I need cameras that accept outside audio feeds and this one does. I need cameras that will feed to an outside monitor and this one does. It's just a decent camera for my needs.
