It is good enough.
The batteries that came with it were not quite good enough. I replaced them with new, better rated batteries with 800 mAh rating.
I had to first un-register the handset. It was probably still registered to a previous base unit. Then I could re-register it with our base unit. After that, it picked up all the phonebook data from the base unit and it works perfectly.

Easy to get good effect
Provides just the right pattern of hues, in one sweep.

This device does work, but there is a problem with the microphone sensitivity.
I connected the transmitter to the port on my mixer where I had been using a hand held Sennheiser SX1 microphone. When I tried using the microphone clipped to my collar, I was not getting enough signal to record. If I held the microphone up to my mouth, it worked OK with adequate volume and acceptable sound quality. It just doesn't work as a lapel mic. I got a 24" flexible gear tie and fashioned it into a microphone boom that holds the mic up to my mouth. This works out quite well.
