perform well for its intended use
For someone who owns many hi-fi components, the 5300 delivers standard performance. Whereas other more expensive amps can sound smooth, punchy and crystal detailed, the 5300 sounds rather raw, w/ details more truncated than full but yielidng an overall solid punch, albeit not very subtle or crystal refined. If u use a same set of speakers for 2 amps, u can tell a difference. I use a pair of PSB for the 5300, compared w/ amps like acurus 80, Denon 1200, parasound hca-750, rotel RB 756, and Hafler 250. The 5300 was not pricey when I got it, yet it is not as full and crystal rich as I would like; however, for its value or purpose, it will easily fulfill a non-enthusiast ears or a surround sound part of a good home-theater system.

Not worth the upgrade if you like the SD870
THis model shows more vivid color (as far as the LCD shows) when taking a same scene indoor compared to a same shot by a SD870, though the difference is not very flagrant for you to lean towards buying this SD880. Response time (shutter action and image rendered) is slightly lagging compared to the SD870. Physically, it looks more cute and is somewhat thinner, thus IMO awkward within you shooting fingers. I like the previous SD870 and I would not recommend this for upgrading that very good model, but this is a very good reminder of the SD870. It is generally not yielding strong lighted result indoors, (flash is always limited, i.e. sharpness is not SLR type in dim rooms) but that's is expected: nothing new here. THe positives regarding the SD880 would have to be referred back to those acknowledged in reviewing the SD870. 4 or 4.5 stars since I am so used to Nikon DX-SLR sharpness or very bright photo.

better than previous W series in build, response
I am conservative w/ respect to the Sony point-and-shoot notably bc I'm kind of used to the response speed of a SLR, but that doesn't preclude me from acknowledging that this camera has a lot of positives when compared against previous W series. The screen is excellent, nothing new here w/ Sony. The response time is above avg (an area where comparatively the T series fail to impress) and the pics result is that you can enlarge the photo w/o much misgiving about artifacts or noise, even though sharpness is not edge-cutting like we normally see in SLR image (I can't comment on other tests like vignetting or purple fringe, distortion: SLR people would be more inclined to learn about those). So, for many, this P&S w/ excellent build quality, proper thickness and weight (albeit a useless viewfinder, limited flash)delivers detailed non-disappointing photo result in its class. Do not compare it w/ other brands or w/ SLR, for it does have its merits in its category , which makes it a very recommended camera. But for a price above $269 I would have to think again... although, a non-slr casual user would easily give it a 4.5 stars. Price/performance is important for me to give it above 4 stars (I paid nearly $300 for it); notwithstanding that, this W300 has an extra edge, the build/looks and maybe, its relative improved responsiveness over all DSCs I currently own.
