excellent (on the right hub)
Shifting is beautifully smooth with a new PC-850 and a layer of ATF toothbrushed on. Installation requires having a compatible Hyperglide-C freehub with the shortened splines on the body, or grinding down the 'wrong' splines somehow, or putting on a spacer first, as described on Sheldon Brown's site (which I can't link to here, but you can look for Hyperglide-C on his Shimano Cassettes & Freehubs page, or Hyperdrive-C in his glossary, as his site uses both at different times).
