New Life for Older Systems
1 of 1 found this helpful These adapters hit the market at the tail end of the PCI interface era (just before PCI-E became dominate) and at the very beginning of Wireless-N networking. They were very expensive when they first came out.
I'm not sure where he got these but they are definitely a good deal. As far as I can tell they really aren't "refurbished", they seem to be brand new (I purchased 3 of them). I looked very close at the PCI connector and only see signs of them being inserted once into a system which was probably a QC check at the factory. No mounting screw marks were present on the metal slot plate. The antenna came in what appears to be a heavy factory sealed bag.
Mine came with Netgear drivers CDs but the final drivers are also available from Netgear.
Haven't tried one on Linux yet but that's my next project since Linux is our best choice for older systems.
Wireless N performance is excellent. PCI is a very fast interface and the management software occasionally reported 'N' speeds in excess of 100mbs which is at the limit of my older router.
My only concern, and it's minor, is that the adapters do not ship in anti-static safe bags and are surrounded by a lot of plastic packaging. Maybe all the plastic is anti-static and just not marked - don't know for sure.
In closing - I really don't see any down side to this offer. The risk of $10 is far outweighed by what you stand to gain. Shipping is very fast. They must mail them out the same day you place your order.
Good luck and grab one of these before they are all gone.

Must have if you cook steaks.
Picked up a Lodge square grill skillet at Costco intending to cook steaks indoors on the stove. The way to do it (like most restaurants) is to quickly seer the meat under high heat on a burner and then move the steak, pan and all, to the oven to finish cooking under a lower heat setting.
The lid adds a lot to the process. Apart from eliminating most of the splatter and keeping the oven clean, it helps retain moisture making for a USDA Prime steak as good as any you get from an expensive restaurant.
Now that I have the lid, I may add the matching flat bottom Lodge skillet to my collection. By the way, the skillets are compatible with induction cook tops but your NewWave cooker may have to strain a bit because of the mass of the cast iron.
