AC2300: A worthwhile investment
3 of 3 found this helpful I bought two AC2300's for use as a "main" and an access point in a three-story home. I based my choice on both price point and a review from elsewhere and I'm now satisfied now that the two units are up and operating. My old setup died of old age and I've found that these products provide higher receive levels based on "bars" of level shown on my seventeen wifi connections. I attribute this to these routers making use of external antennas that I was able to position for my needs. Transmit levels have been limited by the FCC since the outset of wifi so I know the old system didn't transmit more or less power than the new system. Why not five stars? I installed the system myself and spent a full day making the main router work and I thought the install time should have gone more smoothly. Setting up the access point was the simplest chore. Once I clicked on access point operation in setup that part was smooth sailing. Doing this also changes the WAN port so that it is used for the ethernet connection to the main router and leaves me with four available LAN connections.
