Fun yarn, holds up well to machine wash & dry
I really like this yarn and have used it for many projects. Before I go on, however, I want to say that I would not recommend it for use by a beginner since it has a lot of fuzz and random fibers that can be confusing. I have (and do) crochet with it, but again I will state that there are multiple opportunities for the yarn to catch on the hook exactly when and where you don't want it to. An experienced knitter or crocheter can get used to it, but I fear it would be very frustrating for someone who is trying to learn.
Also, it is very prone to fuzzing out at any cut ends. I usually cut it and immediately tie a tiny knot an inch or so from the end that is on my work and the end that is on the skein. This keeps is from flaring out into a cloud of wispy fibers (interesting looking, but not necessarily what you want to work with later on). For a tied-on fringe on a scarf, I've just knotted the tips as I went along, often leaving a longer tail (2+ inches) below my knot. Over time this will result in a rather pleasing tip on each piece of fringe, The fuzz settles into more of an elongated point, and I rather like the look of it.
That being said, this is a great product and it holds up well to machine care. I've made several neck scarves with it and I toss them in a lingerie bag and put them in with the regular clothes, normal detergent, normal cycle with warm wash / cold rinse. I will take them out of the bag to dry so they can fluff up, but care should be taken to avoid mixing them with things like zipper teeth or hook-and-eye closures since these could snag the yarn.
The colors are pleasing and work up into an ombre pattern spanning a sometimes surprising range of shades within the same skein. This color, Great Plains, runs from pink (as noted) through purples, grays, and I've even noticed a bit of green here and there.
It is manufactured to be somewhat loopy and bumpy, so it is not going to show off subtle stitch work, but the overall shape (such as a ribbing or knit vs. purl in the same area) will show up in the work just fine, but only in a general, surface-texture sort of way. Nobody is going to ooh and ahh over the stitch pattern since individual stitches are sometimes hard to see.
I can get a good, long scarf out of one skein, using a fairly large knitting needle (9 to 10 size, or larger - needle size, not mm, these are around 5mm to 7mm) at about 50 stitches wide. I've had enough for fringe, as well, without going into a second skein. With a fairly loose tension and a 5 knit, 5 purl pattern across for 7 rows (reverse the knits to purls every 7), the result is a soft, nicely draping scarf that is plenty warm enough for our Southern California foothill winters. It is often in the 30's or lower early in the morning, and one of these Homespun scarves is quite comforting.
Once you get used to it, this yarn is enjoyable to work with and I find that it mixes well with smoother, worsted weight acrylic yarns within the same piece. Thank you.

Great stuff.
1 of 1 found this helpful Great stuff. LOVES to stick to skin. Sticks reasonably well to other things (gauze, dressing, etc.) but really loves to stick to skin. Going from dressing to skin is good, but if it comes off the dressing, will not re-stick as well. Best to get new piece of tape. Not hard to get off skin, either, but that is its strong point, that it REALLY sticks to skin.

Decent bags
Seem to be decent bags, good size, looks like decent construction. I bought them to add a decorative pocket and to give as gifts, so I haven't inspected them all or used them yet. I think they are a good bag for the price. Thank you.
